Well, as foolish as this might sound. I would rather die. Most of you can guess what I'm about to say, but it's true, I could not, by my own hand, take away my love for guitar.
I would find away to move that damn rock. This guy looks like a damn fool. Tells no one where he's going, has no cell phone, but thinks ahead to bring enough food and water to ration for 3 days?
Look, I’m sure It’s hard to understand the mind set you would get in from such a thing happening. However, losing my arm would not be an option.
If you can't cut the rock, dig in the dirt, if it's on a rock, dig that rock out. If it's on a big rock, think of way to use the water to slide your arm out, or use the water to soften up where you need to cut away at the rock.
I could go on and on, in 5 days I would not be out of ideas, or hope. That's too soon to start cutting away at my arm. This guy's no hero, he's a damn chicken, he started planning to cut his arm off on JUST DAY 3, and if faith and prayers got him out of that, where was his faith in God to save him while stuck there?
He took matters into his own hands, and he's missing an arm to show for it.

Ever tried to cut yourself ? Just to see if you could it? Heck, or slapped yourself in the face?
I mean, this sounds silly, but it's hard to hurt yourself, besides the pain you start anticipating the pain when you start considering hurting yourself. And personally i'd hate to really hurt myself, i don't see the reason for it.
on a side note, that slapping in the face helps keep you awake though.
